레오 14세 교황이 전 세계 가톨릭 신자들에게 군축과 평화를 위해 함께 기도하고 “핵 위협이 다시는 인류의 미래를 좌우하지 않도록 기도해 줄 것”을 요청했다.
교황은 어제(5일) ‘군축 축소와 평화’를 주제로 3월 기도 지향 영상을 발표했다.
교황은 주님께서 각국의 지도자들을 깨우쳐 주시어 “죽음의 계획을 포기하고, 군비 경쟁을 멈추고, 가장 취약한 사람들의 생명을 중심에 둘 용기를 달라”고 기도했다.
그러면서 “핵 위협이 다시는 인류의 미래를 좌우하지 않기를 바란다”고 말했다.
이어 “진정한 안보는 공포에 기반을 둔 통제가 아니라 사람들 사이의 신뢰와 정의, 연대에서 온다”며 “각국이 무기를 포기하고 대화와 외교의 길을 선택하기를 기도한다”고 말했다.
아울러 주님께 우리가 “미움과 원한, 무관심이라는 마음의 무장을 풀고 화해의 도구가 될 수 있도록 해달라”고 기도했다.
교황은 또 “모든 친절한 말, 모든 화해의 몸짓, 모든 대화의 선택이 새로운 세상을 위한 씨앗이 되기를” 기도했다.
교황의 월간 지도 지향은 인류가 직면한 도전과 교회의 사명을 담고 있으며 교황의 호소에 응답해 깊이 기도하고 구체적인 행동 변화를 촉구한다.

In his prayer intention for March, Pope Leo XIV invites us to pray that nations lay down their weapons, adopt diplomacy and justice, and seek true security founded on trust and solidarity among peoples.
